Some ancestor images

Diana & Joe

Hi All. I have been working on our "family room" (thanks Grandma and Grandpa Jamison) by adding more family to the wall.

We have all the kids and us and our parents so now I'm adding you siblings and as many ancestors as I can get my hands on!

In the process I have found several I scanned at our reunion at Brian Head. Anyway, I have edited some (to put them with their companion) and formatted them so they will print well as 5x7. I have uploaded them to Picasa so you can download the originals for your own use.

Here is a slide show of the images.

Enjoy

UPDATE: Melinda Mission

Diana & Joe | Melinda

OK, an update. Melinda heard from her Bishop on Monday that the online system listed "call sent"! So we are hoping it is coming Friday!

So, if you haven't had a chance to guess a location yet...click on Melinda's announcement and add a comment or click here

Also, you can see a map of all the guesses by going to http://thefrees.com/melinda_mission_guesses. Zoom in and click on the little markers to see who guessed and where.

We are getting close!

Tracting with Diana is fun!

Diana & Joe

Diana was wondering what to do for our good friend Father Hutt. He turned 95 today and she has been visiting him each week. She had a great idea for a gift. He use to walk up and down Grandview and visit people each night. So she had the idea to give him a video visit going down Grandview for his birthday.

So I grabbed the camera yesterday and we started at one end and started talking to people and asking them if they remembered Father Hutt and would they like to share a birthday greeting with him. Without exception, everyone was game.

We met so many wonderful people, many members and lots of non-members. It was fun and I mentioned how I looked forward to the day that we could go tracting together. I can't imagine anyone slamming the door on Diana!

So we edited the messages and delivered a DVD to him today for his birthday. He hasn't seen it yet, but I'm confident he will love it.

I have uploaded a small version of the video. It is kind of big, so if you don't have fast internet it might take awhile.

Pun Intended

Birthdays | Comics & Fun | Diana & Joe | Family | General | Herald | Leisure | Melinda

Yesterday was my friend Paul's birthday. He and his roommate Derek are great friends, former missionary companions (served in Tucson, AZ), and current home teaching companions (they teach me and my roommates). One thing they share in common is a love of puns.

I have always liked puns, but being around these guys has made me really love puns. So...for Paul's birthday, I decided to make him a card based on a pun and give him a list of puns I found on the internet.

The card went something like this (with illistrations and fun lettering Ü):
So it was my birthday. I had a big party, and my friend made me a birhtday cake. He brought it out, and it was a savory cake. It had a doughy base with cheese and all sorts of toppings sprinkled on top. I said, "That must have taken a lot of effort to make." And he said...

(then on the inside...)
... "No, it was a pizza cake."

Heee heeee heeee! Ü

A couple of my favorites:
* A rubber band pistol was confiscated from algebra class because it was a weapon of math disruption.
* He said I was average - but he was just being mean.
* When the smog lifts in Los Angeles, U C L A.

Welcome to our new site!

Diana & Joe

Here is our new site. It has all that the old one has (including all of our postings to date) and many more possibilities.

The first step is to make sure you can log in. You should be able to you your old name and password. Or you can request a new password. (call me if you have trouble)

Next, you can add content by clicking on the "create content". There are currently three types you can add.

  1. "blog entry". That is just some text to display.
  2. "image". You can upload an image, it will scale it for you. You can also add text to display with the image.
  3. "quote". Enter a quote and it will be randomly displayed in the column on the right.

You can also add comments to the blog and image entries. The site becomes much more interactive the more we comment.

Another great feature is the ability to get an email whenever someone posts some information or comments. To set that up just choose "My Account" on the left and click on the tab shown in the picture and set your options.

There are other things that need to be added like the ability to upload many pictures in a gallery, rather than one at a time.

But this is a good start. So make sure you can log in. Post some comments and let's get this site up and going so we can get lots of info from England!

"It\'s Better to Be Kind Than to Be Right"

I was looking at some books online the other day (big surprise there, I know Ü), and I found this excerpt from a book that looks really great... Dad: The Man Who Lied to Save the Planet, 12 Timeless Virtues Handed Down to a Son by an Everyday Dad (by James Michael Pratt). The excerpt was printed in Mormon Life in an article entitled "It's Better to Be Kind Than to Be Right." I really enjoyed reading it, and it shares a great message. If you would like to read it too, just click on the link below.

At Long Last....Yeah!!!

Well, today I left work a couple hours early and went with my Dad down to the DMV. I filled out the paperwork and then began the wait for the driving test. Finally my name was called and I went outside to take the test. I did well in the preliminary test (u-turn and 3-point turn...harder than it looks in a big Suburban beast), and then waited my turn for the drive with the judge. I actually started up the conversation with the judge, and my drive went smoothly. I was most worried about parking at the end, but that turned out just fine. I got out of the car with a big smile and a signature on my paper saying I could have a driver's license! Happy Day Ü !

Daniel and Becca swim in the championship

Daniel and Becca swim in the championship

Daniel and Rebecca both qualified through the divisionals and semi-finals to swim in the city finals. Only eight in each age group for each stroke were allowed to go on. Daniel qualified in 8th position for breaststroke and Rebecca qualified 8th for freestyle. I think they need to give a ribbon to the parents who sat in the 2000 degree weather in the stands!

They did great both finishing 8th. Here are some video clips: Daniel Rebecca
